Disadvantages of GoDaddy Hosting

#1. Costly Renewal Prices

Although you can secure pretty cheap prices for the initial lock-in period, the renewal rates can go up to $8.99 after the term is over. If you are opting for short term plans, you are looking at upwards of $10.99 a month.

#2. Misleading Refund Policy

GoDaddy has misleading text in their promotional banners when it comes to refund policy.

I’m some cases, their policies are very impractical. For example, if you have bought a short term plan (less than a year), then you only get 48 hours to try out the hosting plan which is not sufficient to check whether the plan is suitable for your needs.

In the case of annual plans, if you have set up a website using the hosting services of the plan you have bought, then they can technically refuse a refund as you have already used the hosting services.

#3. No Free Site Migration

Unlike other hosting providers, Godaddy does not offer free site migrations. You need to pay $99.99 per site and per database. Even after paying extra, you have to wait until 7 to 9 business days for the migration to complete.

#4. Lot of Upselling

GoDaddy tries to sell you many services at additional cost during check out. Some of the basic features like SSL certificate, daily malware scans are also paid features but you get for free in other hosting providers.

#5. Terrible Customer Support

The customer support staff of godaddy lacks specific details so you may not get accurate information when needed. Users have complained about not getting proper details regarding plans and costs associated with them.

Final Words

If you plan on running your website under three years, then Godaddy offers deep discounts on the initial purchases so you can save on your initial investment.

With one click backup, modular design elements of website builder and marketing tools, and reliable uptime, you don’t have to worry about maintaining your growing website.

However, customer support is the backbone of any technical domain and providing terrible customer support is the biggest turn off.

Overall, we are not going to recommend Godaddy as your choice for hosting considering pricey renewal, excessive upselling and worst customer support.
